Street lights, an early sunrise and afternoon glare leave a bedroom hard to sleep in, and a thin panel does almost nothing about window heat either. Heavier lined panels take most of that light out.
Anyone who needs a fully dark room right out to the edges, since light still comes in around the sides and top depending on the frame and how the rod is mounted.
Measure your rod: two 50 inch panels cover a 100 inch span flat, so the rod should be noticeably narrower than that for gathered folds and should extend past the frame.
