Working a block of cheese down a flat grater is slow and puts your knuckles near the blade on every stroke. A drum grater keeps the food in a hopper above the blade and turns the job into a crank motion.
Textured, uneven or unsealed counters. The suction base needs a clean flat surface to lock onto, so grout lines and rough wood leave it sliding around.
Look at the surface you would actually use it on: without a smooth spot for the suction base you will need a second hand to hold the body steady.
