A standard 9 by 13 pan is shallow enough that a layered bake creeps over the rim, and leftovers still have to be spooned into another container. Extra depth plus a lid removes both steps.
Broiling, stovetop use, or moving a dish straight from the freezer into a hot oven. Glass dislikes sudden temperature swings, and all three are ruled out by the maker.
Measure your fridge shelf and cabinet height. At 3 inches deep plus the lid this stands taller than the flat 9 by 13 pan it replaces.
