A short pad reaches across a narrow band only, and its cord rarely stretches to where you actually sit. This one is extra long on ten feet of cable, and the controller unplugs so the pad itself takes a gentle cold machine cycle.
Overnight use, or use on anyone who has fallen asleep, and use by children with no adult present, because the manufacturer manual instructs against both.
Confirm there is a 100-120V outlet within the 10 foot cord reach of where you will sit, and note that the pad switches itself off at 120 minutes rather than running unattended.
