Worn plastic casters mark hard floors, snag on carpet and squeak at every push, and that is the reason a lot of desks end up sitting on a plastic mat. Soft-coated wheels drop into the same sockets.
Chairs with a threaded or non-standard stem, and the brands whose sockets are a different size, since these only push into a standard grip-ring socket.
Pull one existing caster out and measure the stem: these fit the standard 7/16 inch diameter by 7/8 inch grip-ring type, and the seller notes some chair sockets differ.
